Accessed via Financial/Nominal Maintenance from the Utilities Menu
The Nominal Links option controls the process of how differing transactional types are reflected in the Nominal Ledger. This is done by creating links between the differing Nominal Types and the Nominal Ledger Main / Sub / Account Codes.
If a transaction is processed prior to the Nominal Link being set, a notification message will be given during the Collect and Confirm Other Ledgers process and at the Month End Routine. The Links will need to be built before Month End can be completed, to enable all values to be collected and confirmed to the correct period.
The left frame holds the Nominal Link Types while the right frame holds the breakdown of the Nominal Links made against the highlighted Nominal Type displaying the "Linked" Nominal Account Codes. The Nominal Account Code are set within Account Master Maintenance.
LINKS - allows access to the list for addition, revision and activation. When accessed, the user, date and time stamp of the Nominal Link addition and last revision are shown.
MAKE INACTIVE - Change the status of the highlighted Nominal Link to NOT Active.
ADD - Enter a new Nominal Link.
REVISE - Amend the description of an existing Nominal Link. Further change will require the link to be made inactive and a new Link added.
DELETE - Remove a nominal link.
Adding a Nominal Link
Once ADD is selected the input method and Nominal Type will be displayed. The Link description must then be added. From this point the input is related to the Nominal Type. I.e. for a Sales Categories entry the Product Range and Group will require selection; For Bank Account, the Cash Book will be required and for Assets the Asset Type is expected.
Once these details have been entered / selected the Nominal Account Codes can either be entered or selected. Dependant on the accounts set against the Nominal Sub Code a division and therefore department may also be required for selection.
