Job Vacancy – IT Help Desk Support Engineer
Location: Swindon, Wiltshire

Salary: £27 – £33k subject to experience

Openda Ltd has an exciting opportunity for an IT Helpdesk Support Engineer to join their Development and Operations Team following the growth of their IT support services to their clients.

As a small ERP provider, Openda pride themselves on providing first class customer support to their clients who rely on efficient support to keep their business and IT systems operational.

About The Role

You will be responsible for :

  • Providing support to their clients in respect of PC, software and network related issues to agreed SLAs.
  • Talking clients through diagnostics, resolutions and system set ups either by phone or via their error logging system.
  • Troubleshooting systems and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults, contacting manufacturers/suppliers for warranty claims.
  • Conducting back up testing, script checking and restore tests of their servers.
  • Installing and configuring computer hardware, operating systems (Linux Servers (Ubuntu) & Windows PCs), applications, phone systems and mobile devices.
  • Monitoring and maintaining both the company and their clients’ computer systems and networks (asset management and warranty tracking).
  • Setting up new users’ accounts and profiles.
  • Conducting timely research projects where required and present these to the Business.
  • Keeping up to date with latest software and making recommendations for improvements
  • Providing occasional onsite support to their customers in the UK which may involve out of hours working/overnight stay.
  • Providing occasional out of hours working where upgrades / changes can only be made out of hours. Typically this can be done remotely when required.

Skills

  • Technical working knowledge of Office 365, Active Directory, Group Policies Required and an understanding of IP Networks
  • Knowledge of 3CX phone systems, Ubuntu Servers, Unifi Networks, Watchguard Firewalls, Virtualisation (VMWare but will be changing in the near future) an advantage.
  • Experience of working within an Managed Service Provider (MSP) desirable.
  • Technical aptitude and an ability to conduct timely research on areas that may be unfamiliar.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Full Driving License

Location: Swindon, Wiltshire

Salary: subject to experience

Due to continual business growth we are looking to recruit enthusiastic Customer Focused Software Developers who are keen to join our small development team.

The Candidate:

To be successful, you will have and be able to demonstrate the following qualities:

  • Proven experience of and ability to program using Progress 4GL tools and environment
  • Experience and a good understanding of Databases
  • A minimum of Grade B Maths GCSE level or equivalent
  • Ability to work well within a Fast Paced Multi-Functional Role
  • Ability to problem solve and come up with solutions
  • Have a cheerful, hardworking and flexible approach to your work
  • Working at all times to exceed Targets
  • Be a customer focused individual who can deal with all customer contact
  • Some travel will be required to work at customer sites
  • Be able to work both as part of a Team, and have the initiative to work alone as the situation demands

You should also be able to demonstrate:

  • Excellent PC skills and understanding of PC networks
  • Confidence with using Microsoft Windows and other Microsoft family products
  • Customer Service Skills

Experience within the following areas would be an advantage:

  • Linux or any other Unix-based operating system
  • Web development languages
